Did ya know that Hamilton's first radio station, CKOC, is Canada's OLDEST radio station? 


CKOC is celebrating 90 years of rock & rollin' this month!


I'm happy to say that I read my first live voice-over commercial on CKOC.  


The ad was for a Sophia Loren movie and Bob Bratina, (currently Mayor of Hamilton), was the on-air DJ at the time.

I've been busy at my "day job", so regretfully I haven't posted anything for a couple of weeks...but for those of you wondering what next on my blog agenda --- it'll be all about Justin Bieber who, some might say, is not technically from Canada's Golden Horseshoe area.  


However, since he hails from Stratford, Ontario, I think his home-town is certainly close enough to the Niagara Peninsula to warrant the fabulous & famous Justin a place in this "They Don't Call It The Golden Horseshoe for Nuthin'" blog.  Hope you all agree! 


Here's a bit of info for now...

STRATFORD — Justin Bieber recently told People magazine that “nothing ever came out of Stratford.” Never mind that his Ontario hometown, a city of just 30,000, has yielded heavyweights such as broadcaster Lloyd Robertson and two-time Stanley Cup champ Tim Taylor, not to mention the venerable Shakespeare Stratford Festival, North America’s largest classical repertory theatre.

But there’s no denying the incredible ascent of Bieber, the teen-pop phenomenon who has sold more than a million copies of two No. 1 albums, and left uncontrollable female fans in his wake across two continents. And that mania is slowly seeping into charming, peaceful Stratford.
