Hi!
Justin Bieber on The David Letterman Show to-nite!!!!
Today hails a great event: one famous New Yorker sandwiched between 2 famous Canadians!
How often does that happen!
Justin Bieber is a guest on The David Letterman Show this evening.
Paul Shaffer is the CBS orchestra conductor.
Both Justin and Paul come from Southern Ontario: Justin from Stratford and Paul from Toronto.
This is not the only time Mr. Letterman has been sandwiched between 2 famous Canadians from Southern Ontario.
This same phenomenon has occurred with guests Marty Short and Eugene Levy, both of whom were born in Hamilton, Ontario.
Ahhhhh, Hamilton, Ontario --- home of the extremely talented!
Back in the day, when I co-founded a repertoire dinner-theatre company in Hamilton, I wanted to call it "Almost 500 Miles Off Off-Broadway".
I got shut down and we used another brand-name for the space and the rep. company --- but if given a second chance, I'd insist this time ---- only makes sense.
We grow an inordinate amount of star-quality artists, actors, musicians & more in Hamilton!
By the way, congratulations to Nik Wallenda on his successful Niagara Falls crossing!
Would anyone be able to tell me if they can see the photo of the swan and her baby which I included at the end of my last post? I cannot see it when I pull up my blog --- can anyone else, I wonder?
Ok - gotta go and watch Justin, Dave & Paul.
'til next time!

Ringo! and Wallenda! --- Golden Personalities Perform in Canada's Golden Horseshoe!!!
Good morning!!!
Well, what can I say? It's a week of exciting and heroic events in Canada's Golden Horseshoe region--- our own backyard!
Even the weather is cooperating. It's a beautiful day! The sun is shining brilliantly and my view of the most western portion of Lake Ontario --- the bay end of Golden Horseshoe --- is absolutely gorgeous.
As I look out from my balcony, Lake Ontario is as smooth as glass today --- so clear, so shiny and clean.
& my birds-eye view of the City of Hamilton shows me more tree tops than roofs.
The local tv station, CHCH, is currently touting the highlights of the Golden Horseshoe area and they are sooooo right!
Millions of travellers, who themselves live in spectacular areas of the world, spend their vacations in our own backyard - Niagara Falls and the Golden Horseshoe!
So, the really big news here this summer is the event we've been anticipating for weeks --- Nik Wallenda will be fulfilling his life-long dream of walking a 550-foot tightrope across Niagara Falls! His venture will be viewed by folks across the globe.
I'm very excited for him --- making his dream come true --- he stated in an interview that he has dreamed of this adventure since he was 6 years old.
Nik Wallenda is one of a long line of Niagara Daredevils, many of whom I have already planned to write about in future; however, no one other than Nik has ever tried to walk across the Niagara Falls, (not the Niagara Gorge).
Here's an arial photo of Niagara's Horseshoe Falls which I tagged from one of our local radio station's (KLiteFM) Facebook posting. It clearly depicts the sensational space where Nik Wallenda will walk his tightrope, from one side of the Horseshoe Falls to the other, at 10pm Friday, June 15,2012. (The boat in this photo is the famous Maid-of-the Mist.)
Nik Wallenda --- You are one brave man!
(When I was 16 years old, I walked across the Rainbow Bridge above the Niagara Gorge, which crosses the 49th Parallel - the border between Canada and the USA. That was an exhilarating experience --- but at least I could enjoy the view of the Horseshoe Falls while I crossed!)
Another, and equally exciting, event at Niagara Falls on Friday, June 15, is Ringo Starr's show at Fallsview Casino. Ringo is kicking off his North American All-Star Tour tomorrow evening with a band which includes Todd Rundgren, whose music I've always adored, such as Dancing in the Moonlight.
Ringo Starr has always been my favourite Beatle. I was one of the fortunate ones to have seen THE BEATLES in concert in Toronto during their 2nd North American tour. Like all the other girls there, I "screamed and cried my head off" as we used to say.
Ringo has always exuded a type of peace which I picked up from his energy even way back in the day --- apparently, he still exudes that same peace and is considered to be unsurpassed in his artistic energy and view of music as transcendent to all ego --- he simply reaches out to people in a peaceful, gracious way --- through his art. Now, THAT's MY KIND of MUSICIAN and MY KIND of MAN! :-)
Here are a couple of photos then & now... & as he sings it, "Oh, I Get By With a Little Help From My Friends; Oh, I'm Gonna Try With a Little Help From My Friends"
Today.... oh, still soooo handsome at the age of 72!!!! ( 72????? HOW did that happen????)

http://www.cliftonhill.com/events/ringo-starr-and-his-all-star-band & back in the day... ringo+starr+1963.jpg So, on this gorgeous, fresh, sunny day, I wish everyone love and peace. I'm so very grateful to live in one of the most beautiful locations in the universe and sending out All My Lovin', to quote THE BEATLES, to everybody - everywhere! Oh, by the way, while you're visiting the Golden Horseshoe, be sure to take in some Wine Festivals and enjoy the award-winning wines produced in this region's vineyards. ... Leaving you today with a peaceful feeling inspired by a photo I took yesterday of some of the local residents at Hamilton's Bayfront Park: 'Til next time, Patti Zonta |
